NIGERIAN VIEW
NETWORK Marketing
I have heard stories from countless graduate of how they got text messages inviting them for interviews and possible employment in some reputable firm.
I was such a victim of this glorious and wonderful sms while waiting for my God ordained employment. I will take some minutes of your time to share my story.
In a country like ours where job scarcity has made some people very wealthy (recruitment agency), to be invited for an interview  was a thing of joy for me, I can liking to being told by a prophet that you time of suffering has ended with no physical prove of it.
You can imagine my joy when I got a customize sms from an
organization in Ikeja, inviting me for interview next Saturday, since I just concluded my 21 days fasting and prayer with my church, I felt so fortunate, I must have fasted and prayed the right way.
On that faithful day, I forced my elder brother to drive me there with my new suit I got two months ago and wonderful shoes, you can’t possibly imagine the joy in me that day. To cut the long story short, then imagine how disappointed I felt when I learnt it was network marketing job and not a real white collar, 8-5 job, as if that was not enough, they told me to register with N10,000.
What? This people must be joking, I was about leaving the room like some angry applicant had done, but the last guy that presented, in their series of interview seemed to have wowed me, because I actually paid the N10,000 that day. Was I a fool? Or just desperate?
I stayed on (11 months now), learnt the trade,  made my N10,000 naira with interest, oh how difficult it was, convincing people to save their lives by choosing prevention rather than correction(that was the king of product I was selling). Selling product and recruiting others into the business was a really tough task for me, because I could not bring myself to lie to another applicant, that you will make it in six months or invite someone to a network marketing seminar but telling them it’s a job recruitment, I couldn’t put another person through that ordeal.
Though I learnt a lot from them, for example they made me read books by Robert Kiyosaki (author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Cahsflow Quadrant), Brian Tracy (Psychology of Selling )and  a host of other authors who are into motivation and business. They made me discover some of my inner talent that were dormant in me before joining them and encouraged me to keep trying even when it’s not looking good enough, they even taught me how to make what they call Direct Sale.
I can say, any day any time, that though I am still struggling as a network marketer with GNLD(part time), they helped in making me who I am today. I am still building my network bit by bit and happy doing it.
Then what is my issue?
is it possible to make it in network marketing without lying? I still see them in the street of Lagos sharing flyers, telling people they will pay them good money for texting their names and phone numbers,.
My question  for those people thinking of texting your details to that phone number you saw on the fence of that house, or the flyer you got, do you really believe that a multi-million naira company will employ with that medium? Or the guy giving you that flyer looking so rugged can help you get your dream job?
Why do they tell people you can make it in six months and make it look so easy?
I am a proud network marketer though, but I know better now, Yes 1 out of 1000 makes it in networking marketing, I am not foolish and naïve has I once was, I know you too be that 1 if you persist enough.
But as a people, are we persistent in pursuing a our believes, can we say as Nelson Mandela did “if need be, it is a cause I am willing to die for”
Can we bear to remain penniless for years like Henry Ford, who put his family through hell because he believed in his vision of the automobile industry
Can we see failures as trials like Thomas Edison did.
If you feel you have the strength to persist, then try network marketing, it’s an area in our economy where the recruitment never cease and with loads of people ready to teach you the trade like they taught me and made me better for it.
